Yeah, I noticed this was the odd one out in the first six Freddy movies. The naked gym teacher being ass-whipped in the showers was...out-of-style for Freddy. Seriously, the guy's always been shown to go after little girls; what's with his fixation with half-naked young men in this? To top it off, they royally messed with your mind on when he was sleeping and when he was awake.
Evidently it was whacked-out enough that Wes Craven panicked and returned to work on Dream Warriors before the people could screw things up any further.
Thoughts?

It wasn't even noticed how appealingly gay it was for homos until AFTER the thing had been done. Maybe the screenwriter was a homo trying to think he was straight or something and subconciously worked it into the film.
My thoughts, I can see past the mis-conception that it is all for gays. I also have my own little explinations for all th out-of-whack stuff that went on.
I think it is mis-understood and pretty good. The dark feel is still there which is GREAT. Maybe the soundtrack could have been better and this is the first time we say hi to big effects Freddy.

I am so glad to see that you are interested. I typed it so many times and had a perfected one somewhere but it got deleted So here it is, quite long, but fully explaining ^_^ Okay, emm, where to start? Well, Freddy posessed Jesse in the movie, he did so by entering his dreams, and instead of letting himself go free to wander as usual during the day, stayed inside Jesse's mind, laying in his subconcious thought.
So as such, Jesse becomes a vessel of some sort. Like for instance, the heating of the house, the killing of the coach, Jesse's sleep walking and lets not forget, the exploding birds (LMAO!). Why did they happen? Well, while Freddy rests in a dormant (like sleeping) part of Jesse's brain, Krueger has all the type of ammunition he needs. A world like dreams surrounding him. Using Jesse as his 'vessel' he can project some of his powers through to make certain things happen.
Also, when he comes into the real world, he's is basically Jesse transformed. So, roles reverse. Jesse now lays dormant in his own brain, while Krueger is the body. And with Jesse firmly in place, in a 'sleep mode' in his own brain, Freddy uses him as an internal battery. An UNLIMITED supply of dream power can become unleashed upon the outside world. He feeds off that energy and becomes the vessel himself. This allows him to project his dream powers in the real world to the FULL! Well, almost to the full.
Also, Freddy never transformed earlier, cause after his defeat he would have been a little weak. All his fear taken would do that. Also, he could have needed more juice to make that little trick work, maybe more so than what he would power he would normally have under his belt (only an expression AMBER! LMAO!)
So, he waited, building up his fear and (although the idea of souls being used for his power and strength came in part 3, it can be argued that it comes into play here cause he also killed a few people before his transformation) collecting souls with some kills along the way.I hate having to remember all of that to type lol! It should have been saved last time, not deleted I warned ya it would be long lol! So if I missed anything, or you're still not clear on something, please, let me know. Maybe I have missed something. Hope it helps, and I was happy to help ^_^

Not too long actually..wheee
y'know, that whole vessel theory also could work with part V and his rapid expansion of power then..

And it can bee definitely connected because I heard a quote once saying: 'The idea of Freddy invading a unborn childs dreams, goes right back to Nightmare 2.'

Thoughts? First off, it wasn't Freddy who killed the Gym Teacher. It was Jesse. Freddy wanted to get on Jesse's good side, by having him kill his so called "enemy" the Gym Teacher. So, he did so, but Jesse was too much of a sissy to get the hint, so Freddy had him kill his friends, and almost his family. Freddy wanted cooperation, which he didn't get, so he possessed Jesse and took control. He owned him by that point. What I noticed which I thought might have been a mistake was in the scene where Jesse kills Grady. Freddy is in the mirror, but his glove is on his left hand. But, I got the idea that maybe it was because he was in a mirror that it was opposite sides. Freddy was also very dark in this movie.

However it was a mistake in Nightmare 1 when they used a mirror on set to get the effect of Freddy jumping out from behind that skinny tree in the scene where he is chasing Tina. Although it was not meant to be, the glove was on the wrong hand, but hey the effect worked damn well and I think it can be forgiven.
