I honestly didn't want to see this movie, & figured it would be terrible. But I was proven wrong. It was kind of rushed, I'll admit. But it had a good, though overdone, story to it. However, it's topped the charts of the (very, very few) horror movies that actually scared me. But that might be because I have a phobia of maniquins. ^^; They HAD to have a fricking clown puppet, too. Nyeh. Freaky. Oh, if you look close enough during that scene you'll see the puppet from Saw. ^.^ That alone made me want to buy it when it comes out. XD Anyway. I'd recomend you pay as little as possible, because it's really something I would have rather waited to rent because it was so rushed. :/

One aspect of dead silence that really appealed to me was the notion that it was a ghost story. A ghost story in the more classic sense, having grown; reading M R James , i immediately envisioned the claustrophobic isolation of a woman in black and the growing horror of whisper and i will come to you and rushed home to view.
Is it a ghost story, well yes it is i suppose, though it , for me at least lacks the eternal reciprocation of a brooding horror, granted the story from conception to technical end does span a number of years it does reach a conclusion, though im not sure if it was a satisfactory one, in the sense that i was not constantly considering the events after the ending had played.
while on the subject of the finale, i will not mention the contents but i would love to hear other members opinions of the accumulation of events that lead to the final scene.
If i were to offer a casual recommendation, yes i would recommend watching the production. It was enjoyable and made me smile. It just in some way fell short and far from left me with a chilling realisation or understanding that some of the more original classics brought to myself. On reflection that is somewhat of a shame as i think with work , dead silence could have been something far more dark chilling and truly disturbing.
Though i must tip my hat to the script writer, cast and producer ,as in a mire of instant shock and gratuitous gore to illicit a response it stand alone by its merits.
